Gail Higginbotham
A Maryland native, Gail Higginbotham studied art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Anne Arundel Community College and with several talented, local artists. An accredited member of the Maryland society of Portrait Painters and Oil Pastel Society, she is also the co-chairman of the Member Exhibit Committee with the Maryland Federation of Art. Her work can be viewed at the Aurora Gallery on Maryland Avenue in Annapolis, and the River Gallery in Galesville. Her oil pastel paintings have been exhibited in juried shows throughout Maryland and Virginia. She received First Place two years (2006 and 2007) in the Oil Pastel Society of Maine exhibit in Kennebunk, Maine taking Third Place in 2008. Ardythe Jolliff
Ardythe Bernette Jolliff is a watercolorist who loves to depict light and shadow, rich color, and the special glow of watercolor in her work. Her favorite subjects are flowers, birds, shells, water views and local scenes of Annapolis, MD and the United States Naval Academy. Her paintings are created with imagination and she invites the viewer to explore nature's wonderland with her. She is a Past President of the Annapolis Watercolor and a Signature Member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Philadelphia Water Color Society, and the Watercolor USA Honor Society. Marietta Schrieber
Marietta Meigs Schreiber is a retired teacher who was an art instructor for 35 years; in 1996, she was the Maryland Art Educator of the year. Marietta is a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, a member of the Maryland Federation of Art, and the Past President of the Annapolis Watercolor Club. She exhibits in the Baltimore/Washington and Annapolis areas and has been an active watercolorist since 1997. She likes to paint subjects that pull on her heartstrings, subjects that challenge her ability intellectually as well as with a brush, and subjects that have unusual compositional components. In the fall of 2007, she received the Tilghman Award for Artistic Excellence from the Maryland Federation of Art. She is a docent at the Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College, an Anne Arundel County Master Gardener, and a Trustee of the Arts Council of Anne Arundel Co. Marietta’s joys of life are sailing, gardening, traveling and painting. She holds a Bachelor of Art Education From the University of Kansas and a Master of Art Education from Towson University. Dick Schneier
Dick Schneier is a retired engineer who went “back to school” to unlearn all the bad things he had learned about his favorite then avocation…photography! Under the expert tutelage of nationally known photographers Helen Kelley, Frank Lavelle, Barbara Southworth, Libby Cullen and others at the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program in Washington, he has almost achieved that goal, and his work is now appearing regularly in area-juried all-media and photography shows. He works primarily in 35mm, color and black and white, but uses medium format and 4x5 view cameras when conditions permit. Venues his work has appeared include the Art League Torpedo Factory; MFA Circle and City Galleries; Metropolitan Visual Arts Center RAP Gallery; Arlington County Arts Center Ellipse Gallery; the galleries at Quiet Waters, Annapolis, the Gallery at 333, Annapolis and ARTOMATIC as well as in private collections. He is active in the Maryland Federation of Art, a member of its Exhibitions Committee, chairperson for the Holley Gallery exhibitions, and for the past two years, chair for the organizations’ national American Landscape Show. Martha Oatway
Exploration of the forest and nature is a major theme in Martha Oatway’s monoprints. Some of her recent work uses Mylar as the print paper rather than traditional printmaking papers. The archival frosted Mylar allows her to print on both sides of the "paper" which creates muted and vibrant colors as you look through one surface into another. Her work is included in the collections of Georgetown University, Capital One, Booz Allen Hamilton, Science and Technology Policy Institute, and Bates College Museum of Art. Eva Carson
Eva Carson is a Maryland artist who paints still-lifes, landscapes and large scale murals. Her media vary from acrylic, oils, pastels, oil sticks and colored pencils, and often are used in combination. Whether working on a still-life, a landscape, or even a commissioned mural, Eva strives to capture and emphasize strong contrasts, vibrant colors and light in her paintings. She also often uses unusual vantage points for her compositions, adding an element of abstractness to her otherwise representational paintings. She graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA and has studied with various artists, and participated in workshops and classes in Maryland, Virginia and Germany. She has been a member of the Maryland Federation of Art since 1995, was a member of the Board of Directors of MFA from 1997- 2003 and President from 2001-2003. She is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and has painted on location in Maryland and has recently captured landscapes in other locations, such as Florida, Nevada, Maine, Texas, Vermont, Tunisia and Greece. Eva’s mixed media work on paper was featured in "American Artist" magazine in an article entitled, “When One Media is Not Enough”. Currently her work can also be seen at The American Crafts Collection on Main Street, Annapolis and Bishops Stock Gallery in Snow Hill, MD. Her large scale murals are in many private homes and her largest mural commission has been the Baltimore Harbour School, creating the “Harbour School Village”. Bill Jaeger is a watercolorist who uses the luminosity of transparent watercolor to capture glowing light effects in his streetscapes, florals, marine scenes, still lifes, and landscapes. With no formal art education, Bill is primarily self-taught although he has taken many workshops from local artists. His paintings are the result of his keen observations of the world around him. Interesting shapes and the shadows and patterns caused by the effects of light are what draw him to his subjects. His paintings are noted for their sparkle and clarity of color and are filled with rich pigments and strong contrasts. Bill is a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, an artist member of the Maryland Federation of Art, and belongs to the Annapolis Watercolor Club (President 2003/2004). He primarily exhibits in the greater Baltimore-Annapolis metropolitan area. His work can be seen at the Niland Galleries in Annapolis, the River Gallery in Galesville, the Art Gallery at Fells Point in Baltimore, and the Dragonfly Gallery in Martha’s Vineyard. Donna F. Rhody
Donna Rhody is an Annapolis area photographer/artist. Her photo works can be straight digital shots, special effects (FX) or combinations with other media. Water color, color pencil and charcoal works have been added to her repertoire. She recently celebrated a 10th anniversary with River Gallery (www.rivergallery.org) in Galesville, Maryland. In addition to River Gallery, her works have been exhibited at the Mitchell Gallery, Cade Gallery, MFA Circle Gallery, American Craftworks Collection, Artscape and are part of Sheppard Pratt's permanent collection.
